New Delhi, Jan 29 (NationPress) The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation announced on Thursday that it has activated immediate investigative measures in response to a tragic aircraft accident that occurred near Baramati. The ministry emphasized its dedication to finalizing the investigation within a specified period.

The investigation is moving forward swiftly, and the black box from the ill-fated aircraft has been successfully recovered, as stated by the ministry.

In an official statement, it was noted that all necessary response and investigative protocols were promptly initiated following the accident.

“Conducting a comprehensive, transparent, and timely inquiry is of utmost importance,” the statement declared.

Teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) were dispatched to the crash site to investigate the incident and determine the cause of this unfortunate event.

The ministry reported that a trio of officers from AAIB, based in Delhi, along with another group of three officers from the DGCA’s Mumbai Regional Office, arrived at the crash site on January 28.

The Director General of AAIB, G.V.G. Yugandhar, also reached the scene on the same day.

“The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is fully dedicated to concluding the investigation within a defined period, strictly adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines,” the statement added.

The investigation has commenced in accordance with Rules 5 and 11 of the AAIB Rules, 2025, as noted.

In the meantime, the Pune Rural Police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at the Baramati Taluka Police Station concerning the plane crash, which tragically resulted in the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar among others. Police officials indicated that an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash is currently in progress.

As per police reports, all factors related to the accident are under investigation. Following standard procedure, the ADR will be forwarded to the Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which will carry out the investigation based on the findings from the AAIB team.
