New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) In line with the nation's societal development, the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has facilitated startups in fulfilling orders totaling Rs 35,950 crore, as announced on Sunday.

Women entrepreneurs make up 8 percent of the overall seller base on GeM, with a total of 1,77,786 Udyam-verified women micro and small enterprises (MSEs) registered on the GeM platform, having achieved a cumulative order value of Rs 46,615 crore.

Recent statistics highlight impressive activity within the marketplace, presenting a dynamic ecosystem with 162,985 primary buyers, 228,754 secondary buyers, and a wide array of 11,006 product categories along with 332 service categories, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

During the last financial year, the order volume reached 62,86,543, with an order value of Rs 4,03,305 crore.

Maintaining its momentum, the current financial year has already noted 61,23,691 orders valued at Rs 4,52,594 crore.

Importantly, 37.87 percent of the total order value is linked to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), highlighting GeM's crucial role in empowering local businesses and promoting inclusive economic growth, the ministry stated.

The initiative ‘SWAYATT’ aims to enhance the ease of doing business and establish direct market connections to annual public procurement for startups, women entrepreneurs, MSEs, Self Help Groups (SHGs), and youth, particularly those from marginalized communities.

Since its launch, this initiative has focused on supporting the training and onboarding of last-mile sellers, fostering women entrepreneurship, and encouraging participation from small-scale businesses in government procurement.

'Startup Runway 2.0' provides startups with the chance to present their innovative products and services to government buyers and engage in public procurement.

GeM has established a dedicated marketplace category for all startups to list their offerings, regardless of their DPIIT-certification. The platform provides startups with all the functionalities available to standard sellers, with the aim of promoting 'Make In India' procurement from Indian startups.
