New Delhi, April 13 (NationPress) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday called upon the construction sector to embrace best practices in sustainability, concentrate on clean and green construction, and strive for earthquake-resistant and modular infrastructure.
Speaking at the CAPEXIL's Vibrant Buildcon 2025 event, he emphasized, "We must set ambitious goals, ensure our workforce receives fair compensation, and continually innovate. There must be no doubt - India will spearhead the globe in growth, innovation, and inclusive development.
He mentioned that Vibrant Buildcon illustrates the nation's capability to facilitate rapid urbanization, provide housing for everyone, and transform logistics.
"This platform demonstrates our manufacturing and infrastructure strength, essential for attracting global investments and minimizing logistics costs," the Union Minister added.
He underscored India's escalating prowess in the construction ecosystem - from Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to domestic manufacturing under 'Make in India'.
Key sectors such as housing, infrastructure, commercial real estate, railways, airports, highways, and energy were highlighted.
"Every component, from cement and electrical equipment to security systems and automation, contributes to this ecosystem," the minister remarked.
He further pointed out that rapid infrastructure development has been realized under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the conceptualization of world-class convention centers like Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi, both established during the pandemic.
"These state-of-the-art venues have hosted global events such as the G20 Summit, BharatTex, Bharat Mobility, and Startup Mahakumbh," he noted.
The Minister outlined several significant government initiatives, such as 20 new smart industrial cities, enhanced tourism infrastructure across 50 destinations, and 100 new industrial plug-and-play hubs.
"To transition from a $4 trillion economy today to a $30-35 trillion economy by 2047, every citizen must contribute to Viksit Bharat 2047," he stated.
He highlighted that India is currently breaking down silos, promoting collaboration, and reimagining the future with a convergence of ideas. "Vibrant Buildcon is merely the beginning of our construction ecosystem's transformation under one umbrella," Union Minister Goyal said.
In his address, coinciding with Baisakhi, the Union Minister acknowledged the role of farmers during the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that despite global disruptions, India ensured consistent food distribution month after month.
"Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, even at the pandemic's peak, India persisted in its mission to feed the impoverished and uplift millions from deprivation," he concluded.
