New Delhi, July 18 (NationPress) India is on the verge of taking the helm of the global creative economy through AI-driven innovations, as indicated by the government amidst a booming startup ecosystem, particularly in tier 2 and 3 cities.
To facilitate inclusive communication and ensure last-mile information dissemination in every language across the nation, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is embracing AI-based solutions aimed at bridging linguistic gaps.
During a meeting with incubators and startups at T-Hub in Hyderabad, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, stated that, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to bolster the creator economy, the Ministry has inaugurated the WaveX Startup Accelerator Platform.
He announced the launch of two significant challenges: ‘Kalaa Setu’ and ‘Bhasha Setu’, which are pivotal in establishing a future-ready digital ecosystem.
Jaju encouraged India's premier AI startups to engage in these challenges and create indigenous, scalable solutions that embody the country's linguistic and cultural diversity.
Startups can register and apply for the ‘Kalaa Setu’ and ‘Bhasha Setu’ challenges via the WAVEX portal.
Details regarding technical requirements and other relevant information can be found on the WaveX portal. The final selected teams will present their solutions to a national jury in New Delhi, with the winners receiving an MoU for extensive development, pilot support with AIR, DD, and PIB, along with incubation under the WAVEX Innovation Platform, as per the Ministry.
WaveX is the dedicated startup accelerator platform initiated under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s WAVES initiative, designed to foster innovation in the media, entertainment, and language technology sectors.
At the 'WAVES Summit' held in Mumbai in May 2025, WaveX provided pitching opportunities to over 30 promising startups, facilitating direct engagement with government agencies, investors, and industry leaders. WaveX continues to drive innovative ideas through targeted hackathons, incubation, mentorship, and integration with national platforms.
