New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Wednesday that India is leading the way in creating a strong energy ecosystem while also fostering a sustainable environment for future generations.

The minister reported that India has significantly increased both generation and transmission capacities, reducing national energy shortages from 4.2% in FY 2013-14 to a mere 0.03% by FY 2025-26.

"In FY 2025-26 (up to January 2026), an unprecedented 52.53 GW capacity has been added across all sources, setting a new record in a single year that exceeds the previous peak of 34.05 GW in 2024-25," Khattar wrote.

Furthermore, total electricity generation has surged from 1,020.2 billion units (BU) in FY 2014 to 1,830 BU in FY 2025. Per capita consumption has increased from 957 kWh in 2014 to 1,460 kWh in 2025, mirroring economic growth and enhanced accessibility.

“This progress guarantees that every home, farm, and industry receives the reliable power it requires, positioning India as the third-largest producer and consumer of electricity globally,” the minister concluded in the article.
