Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Jan 16 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has called on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to hasten the takeover process of the first phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail from Larsen and Toubro. This step is essential for initiating the second phase of the project, which the Central Government is prepared to undertake in collaboration with the state.
He has emphasized the need for the state administration to finalize the Phase-I acquisition swiftly and submit the relevant proposals for Phase-II construction to the Central Government.
Kishan Reddy expressed his concerns in a letter addressed to the Chief Minister regarding the delays in progressing to Hyderabad Metro Phase-II.
The Central Minister mentioned that the Union Government has already given its preliminary approval for Phase-II, contingent on the completion of Phase-I takeover and the commencement of coordination via the agreed-upon Joint Committee.
He urged the Chief Minister to appoint officials from Telangana to the Joint Committee to facilitate prompt coordination and ensure the timely expansion of the Metro for the benefit of Hyderabad’s residents.
Kishan Reddy revealed that he had discussions with Union Minister for Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the second phase's construction.
Khattar reiterated that the Central Government has already approved the Phase-II construction.
“Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar informed me that the State Government intends to take over the first phase of the Metro and establish a Joint Committee with the Central Government to prepare for the second phase,” Kishan Reddy wrote.
He quoted Khattar as stating that it has been agreed to form a committee comprising two officials from the state and two from the Central Government.
The state has yet to propose the names of the two officials as requested.
Kishan Reddy appealed to Revanth Reddy to promptly send the names of two officials and to work towards convening a meeting.
