New Delhi, May 16 (NationPress) The Founder of EaseMyTrip, Nishant Pitti, has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of travel data for Indian Armed Forces personnel, claiming that five out of ten directors at MakeMyTrip have direct ties to China, including key positions held by Trip.com, a company with Chinese ownership.
Pitti states that three out of four major board committees at MakeMyTrip are either led by or heavily influenced by directors with evident Chinese connections, granting them undue control over critical decisions.
He emphasized that MakeMyTrip might dismiss these claims as a ‘motivated accusation’, but when national security is at risk, silence is not a viable option.
Pitti also remarked that the recent appointment of a new director on May 14, 2025, makes little difference, asserting that one board reshuffle cannot hide the entrenched structure of Chinese influence that continues to affect board and committee dynamics.
In previous posts on the social media platform X, Pitti mentioned that Indian Armed Forces personnel book discounted tickets through a platform predominantly owned by China, which could expose their travel details to adversaries.
He attached screenshots from the MakeMyTrip platform demonstrating that military officials receive special fares, which require them to input their defense ID. “This loophole must be fixed immediately,” he added.
MakeMyTrip has dismissed these allegations as baseless.
In a related note, both MakeMyTrip and EaseMyTrip have reported substantial cancellations, with a significant decline in Indian tourists wishing to travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan due to their stance during Operation Sindoor.
Pitti noted that there has been a 22% cancellation rate for trips to Turkey and over 30% cancellations for Azerbaijan. He urged travelers to steer clear of these destinations due to their explicit support for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
