The discussions also focused on the state's capability for exporting agricultural and horticultural goods, the official added.
The objective of the meeting was to discover methods to enhance the state's economy through integrated farming techniques, capitalizing on its agricultural and horticultural strengths.
The directives from the Chief Minister are anticipated to significantly boost the state's economic recovery initiatives.
The review meeting was attended by notable officials including Manipur Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Commissioner to Chief Minister N. Ashok Kumar, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Director K. Devdutta Sharma, and Agriculture Director Peter Salam, among others.
Meanwhile, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, while addressing the state Assembly session, remarked on Thursday that the promotion of organic Chak-Hao has become a significant success story.
A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was executed to export 20 metric tonnes of white Chak-hao rice to Japan for the very first time.
Furthermore, the first AGMARK certification for Chak-hao was also obtained, marking a noteworthy achievement.
The Chak-hao, which is Manipur's celebrated black scented rice, is famous for its subtle, nutty flavor, unique aroma, and deep purple color when cooked, thanks to its high anthocyanin content.
This rice is a staple in religious feasts and ceremonies and was awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2019 due to its distinct characteristics arising from Manipur's pure soil and environment.
However, traditional varieties encounter challenges such as low yields and tall plant height (exceeding 150 cm), leading to lodging issues.
Governor Bhalla noted that a fresh MoU was signed under the Oil Palm Development Programme to initiate oil palm plantations over 2,700 hectares during 2025-26.
Land covering 1,200 hectares has been earmarked, with plantation work completed on 402 hectares.
As part of the Digital Agriculture Mission, preparations for the Digital Crop Survey have commenced, intending to cover 604 villages during the Rabi season of 2025-26, the Governor added.
Significant advancements were made under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Per Drop More Crop, where 7,008 small and marginal farmers received support via Direct Benefit Transfer for the installation of 4,104 sprinkler irrigation systems.
Moreover, 2,904 farmers benefited from the construction of water harvesting and conveyance structures.
