New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) Maruti Suzuki India, the leading automobile exporter in India, has reported an impressive export figure of over 3.3 lakh units during FY25, marking the highest record in any financial year, as announced on Thursday.
This achievement signifies a remarkable growth of 17.5 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. Concurrently, India's overall automobile exports increased by 19 percent during this timeframe, surpassing 53 lakh units.
In the initial quarter of the current fiscal year (Q1 FY26), the nation's automobile exports rose by 22 percent year-on-year, reaching approximately 14.57 lakh units.
Notably, the Fronx has distinguished itself as the first SUV from India to achieve exports of 1 lakh units within just 25 months, as per the company's report.
Out of the total exports, 69,000 units were shipped overseas in FY25. The Fronx, produced at Maruti's advanced facility in Gujarat, has made its way to international markets including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. This 'Made in India' SUV is now exported to over 80 countries. Its success in Japan has significantly contributed to its growing export volumes.
For four consecutive financial years, Maruti Suzuki has maintained its position as the top passenger vehicle (PV) exporter from India, achieving the highest export numbers.
In Q1 FY26, the company's share in PV exports soared to an all-time high of 47 percent, with more than 96,000 vehicles exported. Currently, Maruti Suzuki exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries, with South Africa, Japan, and Saudi Arabia being the primary markets.
“The capability of our company to produce world-class vehicles for global markets showcases the true spirit of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Our renewed emphasis on international markets has been crucial for Suzuki’s sustained leadership in passenger vehicle exports,” stated Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
“The Fronx is captivating customers globally. Besides achieving the fastest 1 lakh exports, it was also recognized as India’s top exported passenger vehicle in FY 2024-25,” he added.
The automobile sector plays a vital role in contributing approximately 7.1 percent to India’s GDP and nearly 8 percent of the nation’s total exports.
