New Delhi, Oct 6 (NationPress) The American technology leader Meta has revealed plans to introduce the largest capacity subsea cable in the Asia-Pacific region, named Candle, in the year 2028.

This extensive cable will stretch roughly 8,000 kilometers, enhancing connectivity across Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, according to a statement from the company.

The initiative aims to provide a remarkable capacity of about 570 terabits per second (Tbps), potentially benefiting over 580 million individuals. Meta confirmed that the Candle cable will utilize 24 fibre-pair technology, achieving bandwidth comparable to its most significant capacity cable, Anjana. This new infrastructure will be constructed in partnership with local telecom operators, the company highlighted.

Additionally, Meta provided updates on other ongoing subsea projects, including the successful completion of the Bifrost cable system.
