PM Modi chairs 52nd PRAGATI meet, reviews ₹30,000 crore infra projects
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, 24 June chaired the 52nd meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled multi-modal governance platform, reviewing infrastructure projects worth nearly ₹30,000 crore spread across four states. The session, held at Seva Teerth, focused on accelerating execution across road, power, industrial corridor, and metro rail sectors.
Projects Under Review
The four major infrastructure projects assessed span the road, power, industrial corridor, and metro rail sectors. Discussions centred on project timelines, inter-agency coordination, issue resolution, and timely completion. Modi directed concerned ministries and state governments to resolve pending issues in mission mode and ensure monitoring at the highest level.
The Prime Minister stressed that delays in infrastructure projects not only cause cost overruns but also deprive citizens and industries of intended benefits — a concern that has repeatedly surfaced at past PRAGATI reviews.
PM GatiShakti Push
Modi emphasised the effective use of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan to improve planning and speed up infrastructure delivery. He called for regular, real-time updating of project data on the portal — covering utilities, infrastructure layers, approvals, and field-level information — to identify bottlenecks early and improve inter-agency decision-making.
TB Mukt Bharat and Emerging Technologies
The Prime Minister also reviewed the progress of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, underscoring the need to leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to strengthen the anti-tuberculosis campaign. He suggested deploying NCC cadets and MY Bharat volunteers for patient monitoring, community mobilisation, and awareness creation.
Cybercrime and Digital Arrest Cases
Modi expressed concern over the rising misuse of digital platforms to defraud citizens, reviewing grievances related to cybercrime and digital arrest cases. He called for coordinated, sensitive, and time-bound action by law enforcement agencies, banks, and digital platforms, stressing that citizens should not be forced to approach multiple departments for assistance.
The Prime Minister underlined the need for clear accountability and faster responses, and called for intensified public awareness campaigns to help citizens protect themselves from cyber fraud. This is the 52nd such PRAGATI session since the platform's launch, reflecting its continued role as a central coordination mechanism between the Centre and states.
