The MyGov platform has surpassed 6.32 crore registered citizens, with the government reporting significant growth in public participation through discussions, polls, and surveys, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada told the Rajya Sabha on Monday, 27 July 2026. The platform recorded 6,32,16,167 total registered users as of 10 July 2026, reflecting its expanding role in digital governance.

Five-Year Growth in Numbers

Of the total registered user base, 4,48,10,119 registrations were recorded in the five-year window between 11 July 2021 and 10 July 2026 — representing the bulk of the platform's cumulative growth. This surge points to a marked acceleration in citizen interest in digital participation during the period.

In the same five years, MyGov hosted 180 discussions drawing 7,77,068 participants, conducted 15 polls with 30,39,127 respondents, and ran 56 surveys that attracted 3,57,431 participants, according to the ministry's figures placed before Parliament.

What MyGov Does

Launched by the Government of India as a citizen engagement platform, MyGov collaborates with multiple ministries and departments to involve citizens in policy formulation. It facilitates discussions, creative tasks, polls, surveys, and on-ground activities. Compiled opinions from concluded discussions are forwarded to the concerned ministry or department for consideration during the formulation or review of policies, schemes, or programmes.

Notably, the final acceptance and incorporation of citizen suggestions into government policy remains the prerogative of the respective ministries — a distinction the government has been careful to maintain.

Key Consultations Hosted

Among the significant public consultations hosted on the platform in recent years are the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill-2022, the Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Rules-2025, Union Budget Consultations, draft amendments to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules-2020, and reforms in the examination process.

The platform is currently available in 12 languages — English and 11 Indian regional languages — to reduce linguistic barriers to participation.

Independent Assessment

Third-party impact assessment studies conducted in 2017 and 2025 concluded that MyGov has significantly expanded the scope of public participation through its diverse engagement models. This gives the platform a degree of independent validation beyond government self-reporting.

With over 70% of its total registrations occurring in the last five years alone, MyGov's trajectory suggests continued expansion as more government consultations migrate to digital channels. The platform's multilingual rollout and growing ministerial adoption point to a deepening — though not yet universal — embrace of structured citizen input in Indian policymaking.
