Piyush Goyal: Industries Should Empower and Provide Opportunities for the Differently Abled

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) The industry needs to implement strategies to skill, train, and offer employment opportunities to individuals with physical disabilities, stated Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal.
Goyal made these remarks during his speech at the BML Munjal Awards 2024 in New Delhi.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of enhancing the nation's skills and empowering physically challenged citizens, he urged industry leaders to ensure that skill development resources are available in Braille and tailored for those with various physical limitations.
“It is essential to cultivate specific skills that promote their independence,” Goyal remarked, referring to the example of SEEPZ in Mumbai, which trains 1,500 visually impaired children in the Gem and Jewellery sector for employment within the same field.
He encouraged industry executives to pinpoint the strengths of differently abled individuals to enhance their employability.
“Grievance centres and customer support centres are potential workplaces for divyangjans, as well as in sports. We can also advocate for divyangjan sports festivals to further motivate them,” he added.
During the event, he also referenced the book titled ‘The Making of Hero’, which chronicles the Hero Group’s journey from its inception to its current status. The Minister commended the company’s initiatives to elevate India on the global stage of automobile manufacturing.
Praising the organizers for also releasing the book in Braille, he stated: “This initiative will motivate divyangjans to aspire for greatness.”
Additionally, Goyal expressed optimism that the book would inspire numerous entrepreneurs to become job creators. He emphasized that the united commitment of 1.4 billion people will propel India to new heights, achievable only through lofty aspirations.
The Minister also requested the event organizers to involve startups and younger enterprises in the award ceremony as part of the journey toward a Viksit Bharat.
