Paris, June 3 (NationPress) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his enthusiasm for a stronger partnership between India and the International Energy Agency (IEA) during a meeting with Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the IEA, in Paris on Tuesday.
“I am pleased to have met Dr @FBirol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency. Our discussion revolved around the global energy landscape and the commitment to enhance collaboration between India and the IEA,” the Union Minister shared on X.
In addition, Goyal engaged in a “productive conversation” with Nigeria's Minister for Trade, Industry, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.
“We identified potential pathways to elevate bilateral trade and reinforce economic ties between India and Nigeria while also addressing reforms at the World Trade Organisation,” Goyal stated.
“Our collective vision for progress will propel this partnership forward,” he added.
Furthermore, the Commerce Minister had a fruitful meeting with Eric Lombard, the French Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.
“We exchanged insights on enhancing our economic collaboration, increasing trade and investments with a particular focus on technology and innovation across critical sectors. We also reviewed the status of the India-EU FTA negotiations. I am optimistic about strengthening India-France economic relations,” Goyal noted on X.
On June 2, Goyal met Christophe Perillat, CEO of Valeo Group, a prominent global automotive supplier with substantial operations in India.
“I appreciate the trust the company has in India’s growth narrative and their intentions to amplify investments in our nation. We discussed strategies to expand their manufacturing footprint in India,” the Union Minister reported.
He also connected with Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of the L'Oréal Group, to explore possibilities for L'Oréal to ‘Make in India’ for global markets.
The Commerce Minister also interacted with other distinguished global CEOs in Paris to examine their forthcoming investment strategies for the Indian market in promising sectors such as electric vehicles and renewable energy.
After concluding his engagements in France, the Union Minister will head to Italy for the subsequent segment of his official visit.
