Chandigarh, March 26 (NationPress) Commending the Punjab Budget, State Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) President, Aman Arora, stated on Wednesday that this budget would propel the state towards prosperity and rejuvenation.

Arora noted that the Rs 2.36 lakh crore budget does not impose any new taxes.

"Furthermore, revenue has surged by 14 percent compared to the last year," he remarked.

He emphasized that this budget showcases the AAP government's determination to combat drugs and its commitment to drug eradication. A significant Rs 110 crore has been earmarked for sophisticated anti-drone systems aimed at thwarting cross-border smuggling. Additionally, Rs 150 crore is allocated for Punjab's inaugural drug census.

Moreover, Rs 125 crore will enhance the 112 emergency services.

To achieve this, the state government plans to acquire 1,674 two-wheelers and four-wheelers, aiming to reduce police response time to a mere eight minutes, Arora stated.

He advocated that promoting sports serves as an effective strategy to combat drug issues.

Thus, the AAP government is revitalizing Punjab's sports heritage, he continued.

A record budget of Rs 979 crore has been allocated for sports in the 2025-26 Budget.

New sports grounds in every village and over 3,000 indoor gyms are also in the works, he added.

The AAP government is also focused on establishing a Healthy Punjab, Arora mentioned.

"This year's budget aims to include 65 lakh families under health insurance, increasing coverage under the Chief Minister Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana from Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh per family, with Rs 778 crore allocated for this initiative. The health department's budget has risen to approximately Rs 5,600 crore, which includes Rs 268 crore for Aam Aadmi Clinics. These clinics serve over 70,000 patients daily and have treated more than 3 crore individuals so far," he elaborated.

Arora announced that an unprecedented allocation of over Rs 18,000 crore has been designated for education.

He affirmed that delivering quality education and healthcare are the government's key priorities.

Additionally, the budget encompasses provisions for the installation of 2.5 lakh streetlights, significantly enhancing convenience and safety for residents, he mentioned.
