New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) The upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India today is anticipated to be a crucial meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which could fortify stability and contribute to the evolving global landscape, stated Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) on Thursday.
In an interview with IANS, Dr. Mehta highlighted the importance of this dialogue for both nations, suggesting it could revitalize India–Russia economic collaboration.
He pointed out that this meeting holds the potential to boost bilateral trade and investment, reinforcing the long-standing strategic cooperation between the two countries.
“The discussions between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin will bolster stability and the new global order,” he shared with IANS.
“There are three key reasons this meeting is significant. Firstly, the investment possibilities for both industries. Secondly, India and Russia share a very stable and historically proven strategic alliance,” Mehta noted.
He also emphasized that this visit presents an opportunity to broaden cooperation beyond traditional sectors.
According to him, industries in both nations could discover new collaboration avenues as India and Russia seek to diversify their economic engagement.
“This meeting allows for diversification in various other fields as well. It also facilitates aligning economic priorities between these two nations and opens doors to explore fresh opportunities, particularly in defense, hydrocarbons, energy security, and pharmaceuticals,” Mehta explained.
Looking forward, Dr. Mehta mentioned that Russia may consider increasing imports from India, especially in the pharmaceutical sector.
He highlighted that India, being a major global player in generic drug manufacturing and a pharmaceutical hub, possesses significant potential to enhance its presence in the Russian market.
“India and Russia have a relationship grounded not only in stability but also in a profound historical connection,” he told IANS.
“Strengthened trade connections and deeper energy collaboration will enable both economies to thrive amidst an uncertain and rapidly evolving geopolitical environment,” Mehta concluded.
