Seoul, March 22 (NationPress) A recent report by the Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has revealed that two South Korean AI services are now ranked among the top 50 generative AI tools globally. SK Telecom Co., a local telecommunications company, saw its AI personal assistant, Adot, secure the 39th position in the list of the most utilized generative AI web products.
Additionally, Naver Corp., a major portal provider, had two of its AI-driven mobile applications listed among the top 50 most popular mobile AI apps, according to Yonhap news agency. The Papago translation service was ranked 43rd, while the SNOW photo editing app took the 48th spot.
The rankings are determined based on unique monthly visits for web products and monthly active users for mobile applications, both evaluated as of January this year. The report also noted that OpenAI's ChatGPT continues to dominate the consumer AI market.
ChatGPT's web traffic and mobile user engagement are nearly three times that of its closest competitor, Gemini from Google, as detailed in the report. Over the past year, ChatGPT's weekly active users surged by 500 million, reaching a total of 900 million by February 27, which represents over 10% of the global population.
Regionally, ChatGPT and Gemini emerged as the top AI tools in Western nations like the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, whereas Deepseek showed strong usage in China and Russia. In terms of AI adoption rates, Singapore leads the way, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and South Korea, with the U.S. ranking 20th despite being a key player in generative AI development.
