New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) Automakers in India announced impressive SUV sales results for February, with private consumption steadily increasing amid a resilient economy.
Maruti Suzuki India recorded stable figures, selling 1,60,791 passenger vehicles in the domestic market.
The company's utility vehicle segment, which includes models such as Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6, greatly contributed to its sales, with 65,033 units sold last month.
Mahindra & Mahindra maintained its upward trajectory with strong sales, moving 50,420 SUVs in February 2025, up 19 percent from 42,401 SUVs sold in February 2024.
In total, including exports, Mahindra’s SUV sales reached 52,386 units, as per the company’s announcement.
Kia experienced a year-on-year (YoY) rise of 23.8 percent in total sales to 25,026 units, compared to 20,200 units sold in February last year.
The company’s reliable performer Carens held its market position with 5,318 units delivered, while the luxurious Kia Carnival Limousine continued to entice buyers, achieving sales of 239 units.
With more than 20,000 bookings, the newly launched Kia Syros saw strong sales of 5,425 units in February, further enhancing its popularity among Indian consumers.
Kia’s bestsellers, Sonet and Seltos, played a significant role in overall sales, with 7,598 and 6,446 units sold, respectively.
Hyundai also enjoyed notable growth, tallying total monthly sales of 58,727 units, which included 47,727 units domestically and 11,000 units for export.
In comparison to February 2024, when the company sold 50,201 units, Hyundai's overall sales climbed by 16.9 percent last month, while exports rose by 6.8 percent.
Meanwhile, India's car sales concluded 2024 on a high note, with market leader Maruti Suzuki India reporting a 30 percent increase in sales to 1,78,248 units in December 2024, up from 1,37,551 units in the same month the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki’s main competitor, Hyundai, along with SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra and Kia Motors, also recorded a boost in sales as the market accelerated.
