Mumbai, March 5 (NationPress) Tata Electronics has officially declared a partnership with Taiwan's Himax Technologies, a fabless display firm, along with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC). This collaboration aims to revolutionize India's display and ultralow power AI sensing product and technology landscape.
The trio intends to utilize their unique strengths to provide all-encompassing, end-to-end display semiconductor solutions for their shared clientele, which encompasses everything from chip design to chip manufacturing and packaging, alongside electronics manufacturing services (EMS) to offer system-level solutions to both Indian and global markets.
They mentioned their commitment to develop solutions that prioritize Made in India initiatives.
This partnership also involves the design and manufacturing of next-gen solutions to satisfy global demand while bolstering supply chain resilience.
“By merging Tata Electronics’ capabilities with Himax’s unmatched proficiency in display semiconductors and WiseEye ultralow power AI sensing, as well as PSMC’s established manufacturing solutions, we are establishing a powerful ecosystem that meets both domestic and global demands in the display semiconductor sector,” stated Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD of Tata Electronics.
Jordan Wu, Co-Founder and CEO of Himax Technologies, highlighted that India is becoming a pivotal hub for electronics development and manufacturing, thus presenting vast growth and technological enhancement opportunities.
“Through this collaboration, we intend to bring Himax’s leading expertise in display semiconductors and WiseEye ultralow power AI sensing to bolster India’s Made in India initiative while improving global supply chain resilience,” Wu remarked.
PSMC’s array of semiconductor fabrication technologies is ideally positioned to fulfill the increasing Made in India demands.
“We are eager to embark on this collaboration with Tata Electronics and Himax, as it represents a remarkable opportunity to broaden our collective presence and capture significant market share in both the domestic and global display semiconductors and ultralow power AI sensing sectors,” expressed Martin Chu, President of PSMC.
PSMC ranks as the world’s seventh largest pure-play foundry, operating four 12-inch and two 8-inch fabs in Taiwan, with an impressive capacity to produce over 2.1 million 12-inch equivalent wafers annually.
