Year-End Review: 1.3834 Billion Aadhaar Numbers and 67 Million Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts Created

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) A remarkable 1.3834 billion Aadhaar numbers have been generated to date, with 67 million Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers also established, as highlighted in the year-end review by the Ministry of Electronics and IT on Tuesday.

India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is pivotal in facilitating accessible and secure public services, significantly transforming the digital economy.

Noteworthy accomplishments include the generation of 1.3834 billion Aadhaar numbers.

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recorded 15,547 crore transactions amounting to Rs 223 lakh crore from January to November this year, underscoring its transformative effect on financial transactions in India.

Aligned with the government's vision of paperless governance, Digi Locker has emerged as a groundbreaking platform for document issuance and verification.

“With over 370 million registered users, Digi Locker has revolutionized how citizens access and authenticate their documents,” stated the ministry.

The Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance (UMANG) is another significant initiative designed to simplify access to government services.

With more than 71.2 million users, UMANG has streamlined citizen interaction with government services.

UMANG is available in 23 multilingual languages (for the top 100 services), including English and Hindi. Currently, UMANG provides approximately 2,077 services across 207 departments of both Central and state governments, as shared by the ministry.

India's digital infrastructure has seen a profound evolution in recent years, establishing the nation as a global frontrunner in digital adoption.

With a rapidly growing digital economy, propelled by advancements in Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and digital governance, India's infrastructure is continuously adapting to meet the increasing demands of public and private sectors.

As per the ministry, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has set up cutting-edge National Data Centres (NDC) in cities like Delhi, Pune, Bhubaneswar, and Hyderabad, offering robust cloud services to government ministries, state governments, and public sector undertakings (PSUs).

At NDC, the storage capacity has been expanded to about 100PB, incorporating All Flash Enterprise Class Storage, Object Storage, and Unified Storage.

Moreover, around 5,000 servers are deployed to support various cloud workloads.

An additional state-of-the-art NDC (Tier-III) with 200 Racks that can be expanded to 400 Racks is being established in Guwahati, Assam.

Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA), the world's largest education platform, has conducted 556.37 crore learning sessions as of July 22, 2024. It has recorded 17.95 crore course enrolments and 14.37 crore course completions.

The CSCs initiative, managed by MeitY, has been instrumental in delivering e-services to rural India.

As of October 2024, over 584,000 CSCs are operational nationwide, including 463,000 at the Gram Panchayat level, facilitating the delivery of more than 800 services, ranging from government schemes to education, telemedicine, and financial services.
