New Delhi, Feb 16 (NationPress) The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has reported an impressive nearly 14 million downloads of the newly launched Aadhaar App, showcasing the remarkable public acceptance and increasing confidence of citizens in the reliable, digital, and efficient Aadhaar services.

This milestone emphasizes the app’s function in enhancing the accessibility, user-friendliness, and immediate availability of Aadhaar services to individuals nationwide, as noted in an official announcement released on Monday.

The Aadhaar App is an advanced mobile application crafted to offer Aadhaar Number Holders (ANH) a secure, convenient, and privacy-centric method to manage, share, display, and verify their digital identities. It is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Launched on January 28, the app is witnessing an average of over 100,000 downloads daily. Its utility is continuously expanding, placing Aadhaar services at the fingertips of residents.

To date, the app has enabled 1 million residents to update their mobile numbers linked to Aadhaar, and 357,000 ANHs have utilized the app to lock or unlock their biometrics. Additionally, almost 800,000 residents have accessed e-Aadhaar through the new app, as stated.

The app features advanced capabilities such as face verification for presence proof, biometric lock/unlock functionality in a single click, viewing authentication history, and a QR-based contact card for seamless sharing of contact information.

Designed with user-friendliness in mind, the Aadhaar App caters to a broad spectrum of practical use cases. These include hotel check-ins through Offline Verification Seeking Entity’s (OVSE) QR code scanning.

It also aids in age verification, hospital admissions for visitors and attendants, entry to events, and verification of gig workers and service partners, among various other applications.

UIDAI is working on establishing an offline verification ecosystem, enrolling different entities to utilize the Aadhaar App’s features for service accessibility.

Furthermore, the app allows management of up to five Aadhaar profiles on a single device, promoting the concept of “One Family – One App.” In addition to address modifications, residents can now update their registered mobile numbers through the app, with more update services planned for the future.

This notable uptake signifies UIDAI’s ongoing dedication to harnessing technology to improve service delivery, enhance user experience, and fortify digital infrastructure.

Regular updates, enhanced security features, and a streamlined interface have all contributed to the app’s widespread popularity among residents of all ages and regions.

Point of View

The rapid adoption of the Aadhaar App indicates a significant shift towards digital identity management in India.
