Mumbai, Oct 7 (NationPress) Bollywood’s “Khiladi” star Akshay Kumar reached out to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to gather insights on embracing a villainous role in his forthcoming film Haiwaan.
“I am set to star in a film where I portray a negative character. I pondered whether I should take on this role or not. The film is titled Haiwaan, but ultimately, my character meets defeat. The ‘Haiwaan’ loses,” Akshay shared during the FICCI FRAMES 2025 event.
In response, Fadnavis encouraged him: “Absolutely, you should pursue it. A multifaceted actor like yourself should venture into all types of roles.”
Fadnavis emphasized that for an actor, true success lies in diversifying their roles.
He remarked: “What constitutes success? Even in narratives where the antagonist falters, the character often leaves a more profound impression than the protagonist. That signifies creativity. However, do continue to engage in more heroic roles as well.”
Discussing his motivation for taking on a negative role, Akshay stated: “I felt compelled to explore a villainous character, hence I am undertaking it. Typically, I portray the hero.”
Regarding “Haiwaan,” the film marks a reunion between Akshay and actor Saif Ali Khan after 17 years. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is a remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which was also directed by the same filmmaker and featured Mohanlal.
