Popular reality streaming show Alliance is set to return with its second season, premiering on 14 January 2027 on Prime Video. The makers officially announced the new season on Wednesday, 30 September, confirming that fans will not have to wait a full year for the next instalment of the strategy-driven competition format.

What Alliance Is and Why It Stands Out

Alliance is the Indian adaptation of a globally acclaimed Dutch format originally created by John de Mol and produced by Banijay Asia. Season 1, hosted by actor Kunal Kemmu, placed 16 celebrity contestants — referred to as 'Allies' — inside a mysterious headquarters operated by an entity called 'The System'. Participants navigated a blend of physical challenges, psychological pressure, shifting loyalties, and secret missions, with the premise that strategic intelligence, not just physical prowess, determines the winner.

What Prime Video Said About the Renewal

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, credited the strong audience response for the accelerated return. 'The response to Alliance Season 1 validated what we always believed, that Indian audiences are ready for a smarter form of reality entertainment. The show didn't just find an audience; it created a community of viewers who were invested in every move, every alliance, and every shift in the game. The love that season 1 got inspired us to ensure we don't make them wait one full year,' he said.

Madhok added that Season 2 would feature 'higher stakes, sharper gameplay, more drama, and an evolved 'System' that will test the Allies like never before,' and noted that the continued partnership with Banijay Asia allows the production to push the format further.

Banijay Asia on the Creative Direction

Deepak Dhar, Founder and Group CEO of Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, described the show's central tension as its greatest creative asset. 'Alliance is a format that asks a very simple question: when the rules keep changing, who can keep their head in the game? That tension between strategy and human behaviour is what made season 1 so compelling, and it is also what gives us so much room to evolve the show,' he said.

Dhar confirmed that Season 2 has been designed to test Allies not only through challenges but also through the choices they make and the relationships they build, promising to 'push the game to a new level.'

While the full cast for Season 2 has not yet been announced, the creative team has signalled a more evolved version of 'The System' and heightened stakes across both gameplay and interpersonal dynamics.
