Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Actress Ameesha Patel has disclosed the reasoning behind her decision to decline a role in Akshaye Khanna’s debut film “Himalay Putra.”
In an exclusive interview with IANS, the ‘Gadar’ actress revealed the circumstances surrounding her decision, which was influenced by Vinod Khanna personally reaching out to her parents. At the time of the offer, she was studying in the United States and was entirely dedicated to her academic pursuits.
Ameesha explained that her lack of interest in films during that period led her and her family to decline the offer. “When Vinod Khanna uncle approached my parents with his debut film, I was focused solely on my studies and my passion for reading. Consequently, we chose to turn down the opportunity,” she shared.
Looking back, she added, “I was too young and had no interest in the film industry at that time. However, fate had its way, as I later collaborated with him in two films, along with his brother Rahul and cousin Karan.”
On the topic of Akshaye Khanna’s recent success in “Dhurandhar,” the ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ actress emphasized that his journey to fame shouldn't be misconstrued as an overnight achievement. She acknowledged that his current acclaim is a result of 30 years of relentless effort and dedication.
“I’m genuinely pleased for him. People often claim he became famous overnight, but that’s a misconception. His journey represents three decades of hard work, which has culminated in a national sensation,” she remarked.
Ameesha Patel and Akshaye Khanna have previously shared the screen in films such as “Humraaz” and “Aap Ki Khatir.”
