She expressed that growing up immersed in the melodies of Vishal Bhardwaj has made this opportunity feel like an incredible dream.
As a trained singer and sitarist in Hindustani classical music, Ananya shared her profound experience collaborating with Vishal Bhardwaj, stating, “Having listened to Vishal sir’s compositions throughout my life, singing for him is truly a dream realized. His precision regarding musical nuances is remarkable, yet he allows you the freedom to explore and express yourself within the song.”
“Being able to convey my emotions and personal style while performing his music is a profoundly liberating experience,” Ananya remarked.
'Vaada Hai', her inaugural playback track, is already captivating audiences with its emotional depth, purity, and seamless classical influences. In addition, she has contributed her voice to the reprise version of 'Vaada Hai' and has performed another piece titled 'Hum Toh Tere Hi Liye' for the film, which is not included in the official album.
Beyond playback singing, Ananya is an essential member of The Gen Next Collective, a group of young artists dedicated to forging their unique musical identities while honoring their heritage.
“We take immense pride in our origins,” Ananya stated. “However, we also aspire for the world to embrace our individuality, our sound, emotions, and the narratives we wish to share through our music.”
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, 'O’ Romeo' draws inspiration from Hussain Zaidi’s novel 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'.
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai's underworld, the film follows the tumultuous journey of Hussain Ustara, an emotionally charged gangster. 'O’ Romeo' is a compelling love story rooted in the 1990s, interwoven with action and crime elements, reflecting the post-independence underworld of Mumbai.
Featuring a stellar cast including Triptii Dimri, Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, and Tamannaah Bhatia, the film debuted on February 13.
