Arpita Khan Launches Her Own Restaurant: Food as a Family Tradition

New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Salman Khan’s youngest sister, Arpita Khan, who proudly calls herself a “foodie”, has launched her very own restaurant in Mumbai. She expressed that for generations, her family has embraced celebrations through food, and this profound connection has motivated her to elevate her passion to new heights.

While discussing her restaurant “Mercii”, Arpita shared with IANS, “Food has always been an expression to us as a family. Our home has been a place where people are welcomed with warmth, and sharing a meal is the ultimate gesture of love and hospitality.”

“For generations, we’ve celebrated through food, and it’s this deep-rooted connection that inspired me to take this passion to the next level. When Ketul approached me for this project, it felt like the right moment to extend our family with the boys into a natural extension of our home,” she elaborated.

Arpita revealed that the name Mercii carries special significance for her.

“It’s derived from the French term for ‘thank you,’ and for me, gratitude is essential. In today’s fast-paced environment, where basic kindness and appreciation can often seem overlooked, I envisioned Mercii as a reminder of the importance of giving back and expressing ‘thank you’—to the people who collaborate with us, those who dine with us, and the universe itself,” stated Arpita.

She recommended the “Potato Mille-Feuille with Périgord truffle” as a must-try dish from the menu, while her personal favorites include Rigatoni Arabiata Pasta, a delectable four cheese pizza, and Coco Lobster.

When asked if she considers herself a foodie, she replied, “Absolutely! I’ve always been someone who finds joy in exploring flavors, ingredients, and the stories behind them. For me, food is not just about taste, but about culture, tradition, and connection.”

Arpita, who is married to actor Aayush Sharma, mentioned that her travels have exposed her to a variety of cuisines and culinary techniques, which she enjoys discovering and sharing.

“Whether it’s relishing a simple home-cooked meal or indulging in an elaborate dish, I believe food has the ability to create memories and unite people,” concluded Arpita.
