Los Angeles, May 17 (NationPress) Actress Bella Ramsey has embarked on a mission to showcase an authentic representation of themselves.
The 21-year-old performer, who identifies as non-binary and utilizes they/them pronouns, has openly discussed their gender fluidity and neurodivergent diagnosis. They are eager to find a balance between transparency and privacy, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, Bella expressed, "I aim to shed light on important issues and leverage my platform for positive outcomes. For me, it’s about being genuine, so people can know me beyond a contrived persona.”
They added, “The key is to be authentic while keeping a degree of privacy, which I’ve fortunately managed thus far.”
According to ‘Female First UK’, Bella currently stars as Ellie in the second season of 'The Last of Us', navigating the challenges of survival in a world ravaged by a global pandemic. They admitted to feeling increased pressure following the critical success of the first season, which debuted in 2023.
“It’s a bit daunting. When season one premiered, it was massive. I’m acutely aware of the anticipation surrounding season two and how everyone will be watching me, which is quite intimidating,” they said.
The new season of the post-apocalyptic series, adapted from the popular video game franchise, is set five years after the events of the inaugural season, and Ramsey hinted that Ellie has undergone significant transformation.
The 'Game of Thrones' alum remarked, “A lot has shifted in those five years. Ellie was 14 and is now 19. Those years are crucial in any teenager’s development, which certainly plays a role in her evolution.”
Bella recently revealed that they have “never truly enjoyed” the spotlight. They shared with Interview magazine, “It always seemed rather superficial to me. I’ve never liked it, but I’ve learned to accept it, knowing it will be what it is, and then it will pass. I was initially terrified of joining 'The Last of Us' and the prospect of attaining lasting fame, fearing I couldn’t retreat from it.”
However, they acknowledged, “I’ve come to realize that this level of fame is temporary. It lasts a few months during the show's release, but eventually fades. If you don't take steps to maintain that notoriety, life continues, for which I’m immensely grateful.”
