Chennai, May 23 (NationPress) The much-anticipated trailer for director Sajin Baabu's Malayalam film, 'Theatre: The Myth of Reality', was unveiled at the esteemed 2025 Cannes Film Festival – Marché du Film in France.
The launch was graced by the presence of veteran filmmaker Sudhir Mishra.
Following his acclaimed National Award-winning film 'Biriyani', Sajin Baabu returns with 'Theatre', a cinematic exploration of potent themes such as fading traditions, feminine mysticism, and the delicate line between myth and reality. The film is produced by Anjana Philip and Philip Zackaria under the banner of Anjana Talkies, with Santhosh Kottayi serving as co-producer.
The trailer provides a glimpse into the lives of two women who are convinced that a curse is the source of their suffering. In a contemporary society that often dismisses such beliefs, the film encourages viewers to witness how superstition and reality intertwine within a secluded and enigmatic community.
Set against the backdrop of Kerala's Illikkal Island, the film captivates with its haunting atmosphere, enhanced by a richly woven narrative, stunning visuals, and an evocative sonic landscape.

'Theatre' stars Rima Kallingal and Sarasa Balussery in lead roles, supported by an ensemble cast that includes Dain Davis, Pramod Veliyanad, Krishnan Balakrishnan, Megha Rajan, Ann Saleem, Balaji Sharma, D Raguthaman, Akhil Kavalayoor, Aparna Sen, Lakshmi Padma, Meena Rajan, RJ Anjali, Meenakshi Raveendran, Ashwathy, Arun Sol, and Ratheesh Rohini. Rima Kallingal was awarded the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actress for her performance in this film.
The film’s technical team comprises cinematography by Syamaprakash M S, editing by Appu Bhattathiri, and music by Saeed Abbas. Gayathri Kishore crafted the costumes, while Sethu Sivanandan and Ash Ashraf handled prosthetics and makeup.
