In the meantime, Divya’s directorial film "Yaariyan", featuring Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh, returned to theaters with a re-release on March 21. This 2014 romantic-comedy drama allowed audiences to revisit their college memories. Reflecting on the re-release of "Yaariyan", Divya expressed, "The audience showered so much affection on Yaariyan during its initial release that my heart feels completely fulfilled. The re-release is my way of showing gratitude to those who embraced it so warmly.”
“I recall when I was filming my second movie, Sanam Re, in Ladakh—in a very remote location with few people around—some tourists arrived, and a girl approached me, saying she had watched Yaariyan 56 times. I was genuinely astonished! That’s the kind of devotion I received,” she recalled.
She noted that during the promotional events for "Yaariyan 2", as they visited colleges, Divya felt a profound nostalgia from the public towards the original Yaariyan. "My heart has been truly filled with all this affection. This film was the launchpad for my directorial career and marks the start of my journey in the industry, so I am immensely grateful to the audience for their unwavering support," added Divya.
Divya Khossla was last featured in the thriller "Savi", which also starred Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor and drew inspiration from the legendary story of Savitri and Satyavan. The film followed the journey of a devoted housewife attempting to free her husband from a high-security prison in England.
Directed by Abhinay Deo, "Savi" premiered in cinemas on May 31.
