Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) 'Black Coffee' star Kajal Shankawar has candidly discussed her troubling experiences with the casting couch in the film industry. In a heartfelt confession, she highlighted how individuals often anticipated personal favors in return for job opportunities, exposing the harsh truths many face in the entertainment sector.
Kajal shared with IANS, “Although those times are mostly behind us, such occurrences still exist. Early in my career, I faced individuals who required favors for work. I stood my ground and faced the consequences of not receiving projects. However, by God’s grace, I eventually found opportunities. My parents instilled in me the importance of articulating my needs and boundaries. I intend to discuss these matters further once I’m in a position of influence—when the audience is ready to listen.”
The actress also mentioned experiencing backlash in her hometown. “I was ostracized in my hometown. It was a profoundly challenging period in my life. I took a step back, explored various avenues, and persevered. Today I’m here, possibly heading to Bigg Boss next, and who knows what’s next? That’s life.”
She added, “That was a difficult time. I worked on a project for another channel, but the producers were admirers of my work and pursued me persistently for six months. They were not the same people who had caused issues previously. My family and I endured a lot. Yet today, I take pride in every choice I’ve made. Each experience has imparted valuable lessons, and I have no regrets.”
Reflecting on her journey in the industry, the 'Kink 2' actress stated, “My entry into films was quite unforeseen. I initially devoted myself to web shows and participated in several web series before transitioning into reality television. Over time, I recognized that reality shows suit me best. I’m open to exploring hosting opportunities in the future, although I’m not fully committed yet. At present, I’m eagerly anticipating participating in Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi.”
