Mumbai, May 28 (NationPress) Renowned actor and director Kamal Haasan has praised his “Thug Life” co-star Ali Fazal, declaring him to be a very significant actor for India.

Reflecting on his initial thoughts about Ali, Kamal revealed that he became an admirer of the actor after viewing him in Vishal Bhardwaj's espionage thriller Khufiya.

Haasan stated, “I watched you in Vishal’s film (Khufiya) and instantly knew I wanted to collaborate with you. Thanks to this man (Mani Ratnam), it became a reality. Ali is a very important actor for India. I hope you will welcome me to Chennai and our cinema.”

Ali was deeply touched by the compliment, calling it a “dream come true”.

“Receiving such praise from Kamal sir is something I will cherish forever,” Ali remarked.

“He’s not just a legend of Indian cinema but a global symbol of storytelling, art, and bravery. Sharing the screen with him in Thug Life is an honor, and his warm welcome makes this a dream come true.”

Produced by Kamal through his production house Raaj Kamal Films International, alongside Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, R. Mahendran, and Siva Ananth, Thug Life boasts an impressive cast led by the legendary actor portraying Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker.

He is joined by Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf in key roles, among others. This film marks the reunion of Mani Ratnam and Kamal after 35 years.

The duo last collaborated on the 1987 film Nayakan. Thug Life is set for a global theatrical release on June 5, 2025.

As for Ali, he is looking forward to the launch of his upcoming film Metro…In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu. He is also undergoing rigorous training in Jujutsu with Italian expert and black belt Umberto Barbagallo to prepare for the next phase of Rakht Brahmand.

Rakht Brahmand is produced by filmmakers Raj & DK and helmed by Rahi Anil Barve. The series features a stellar cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom is an action fantasy series on Netflix, directed by Rahi Anil Barve, based on the Marathi short story Vidushak by G. A. Kulkarni. This series is slated to debut on Netflix as a six-episode limited series.

The first season is set in a fictional realm focusing on the struggle between two princes vying for the throne of the kingdom.
