Could Kristen Stewart Really Remake ‘Twilight’?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, Jan 6 (NationPress) Actress Kristen Stewart, who gained worldwide recognition for her portrayal of Bella Swan, has expressed her desire to helm a lavish remake of the vampire romance film “Twilight”.
The actress, recently recognized as one of the promising new directors following her debut with 2025's The Chronology of Water, shared with Entertainment Tonight: “I would love. I admire what Catherine (Hardwicke) accomplished, I appreciate Chris (Weitz)’s work, and I value the contributions of all the directors who worked on the films.”
“Each director brought their own unique flair, quirks, and authenticity to the table during a time when none of us truly knew the phenomenon it would become. Just imagine if we had a massive budget and a great deal of love and support behind it. I would be thrilled to adapt it again. Count me in for the remake; I’m all in!”
In total, the Twilight saga, based on Stephanie Meyer’s novels, featured various directors across its three installments.
The original film, directed by Catherine, was released in 2008, followed by Chris’s New Moon in 2009, David Slade’s Eclipse in 2010, and Bill Condon’s two-part Breaking Dawn finale in 2011 and 2012.
In this blockbuster series, Stewart starred alongside prominent actors such as Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick, Peter Facinelli, and Kellan Lutz.
Despite her success, Stewart initially doubted that a sequel to Twilight would materialize, as she never anticipated the first film’s overwhelming success.
In 2022, during an interview on the Jess Cagle Podcast, she remarked: “It’s important to highlight that the first ‘Twilight’ movie was essentially an indie film, albeit without downplaying its significance. We approached it with uncertainty, and it felt like an unconventional, somewhat niche teen movie. I honestly didn’t foresee its widespread appeal or the production of a sequel.”
