Mumbai, May 18 (NationPress) Hollywood star Kristen Stewart graced this year's Cannes Film Festival with her directorial project, 'The Chronology of Water'.
However, the journey was not straightforward for the 'Twilight' actress. Stewart disclosed that she had to venture outside the United States to secure financing for the film.
At the Hyde Beach by Campari event, which was part of Breaking Through Lens, Stewart was joined by 'The Chronology of Water' actor and musician Kim Gordon. During this gathering, Lauren Melinda, founder of Simbelle Productions, announced the Simbelle Impact Award—a $10,000 grant set to be awarded to the finalist in the upcoming Breaking Through Lens grant cycle.
Despite her status as a major figure in Hollywood, Stewart found herself traveling to Europe to bring 'The Chronology of Water' to fruition.
She noted that her choice to refrain from acting in the film complicated her search for funding, stating, “The list of women and men [actors] that can finance a movie in the entertainment industry are so beyond me. They change so quickly and I don’t understand them at all.”
Expressing her aspirations as a filmmaker, Stewart remarked, “I would love to [act] in something I direct, and I will do it soon, I hope.” Excited to finally witness 'The Chronology of Water' manifest, she said, “I feel like I am watching my kid in kindergarten like, ‘Look at her go!'”
This film is a cinematic interpretation of Lidia Yuknavitch's 2011 memoir, following the journey of an aspiring Olympic swimmer who, after losing her scholarship, grapples with addiction while exploring her sexuality and passion for literature.
The main cast features Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Earl Cave, Michael Epp, Susannah Flood, Jim Belushi, Julienne Restall, Tom Sturridge, and Anna Wittowsky.
