Los Angeles, May 17 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Kristen Stewart made her directorial debut with “The Chronology of Water” at the Cannes Film Festival, receiving an impressive four-minute standing ovation.
Imogen Poots delivered a stunning performance as Lidia Yuknavitch in Stewart's adaptation of the author’s 2011 memoir. The film takes a non-linear approach to depict the author’s tumultuous life, featuring harrowing scenes of abuse by her father and her descent into addiction, contrasted with the redemptive power she found in water.
After the screening, Stewart embraced her cast and crew, turning the spotlight on them. Following a kiss with her wife Dylan Meyer, she took the mic from Cannes chief Thierry Fremaux to share her thoughts.
“This is an absolutely insane, surreal experience to be here with all of you. We just finished the movie, it’s not even complete yet. We slipped in just under this closed door, and thank you so much,” Stewart expressed, before jumping into Fremaux's arms.
