Leaving at the Summit of Success: Is Vikrant Massey Following in Vinod Khanna's Footsteps?

Mumbai, Dec 3 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey, who has been garnering significant acclaim for his newly released film The Sabarmati Report, has revealed his intention to take a break from acting. This choice, occurring at the zenith of his career, bears a striking resemblance to the decisions made by the late actor Vinod Khanna and actress Mamta Kulkarni, both of whom departed from Bollywood while at the height of their success.

Nonetheless, the motivations for their exits are notably different. Vinod Khanna left the film industry to seek spiritual enlightenment with Osho. Following the loss of his mother in 1982, Khanna experienced an emotional void and turned to Osho for comfort. His departure sent shockwaves throughout the industry, as he was one of the leading figures of his era. The revered actor officially announced his withdrawal from the industry and even distanced himself from his family in his quest to fill this emotional gap.

Initially becoming a disciple of Osho in 1975, Khanna began his journey by working as a gardener at Osho's ashram. However, after a five-year hiatus, Vinod Khanna made his comeback to films with Insaaf, directed by Mukul Anand.

Mamta Kulkarni, who made waves in Bollywood with a daring photoshoot early in her career, achieved remarkable success in a short period. Throughout the 1990s, she collaborated with some of the biggest names in Bollywood, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Govinda, and Sanjay Dutt. However, she abruptly exited the industry, amidst rumors of her relationship with Chhota Rajan.

Additionally, it was reported that she had conflicts with director Rajkumar Santoshi during the filming of China Gate, which allegedly required intervention from Chhota Rajan.

Eventually, Mamta Kulkarni disappeared from public life in the early 2000s, resurfacing in 2016 when Thane Police implicated her as one of the suspects linked to the supply of ephedrine for the illegal production of methamphetamine in connection with an international drug syndicate. It was claimed that she, along with her alleged partner Vicky Goswami and other co-defendants, participated in a meeting with an international drug ring in Kenya in January 2016.

While Vikrant Massey has cited his family as the reason for his sabbatical, it remains to be seen what the future holds for this talented actor.
