Mumbai, Feb 14 (NationPress) On the occasion of Madhubala's 92nd Birth Anniversary, her sibling Madhur Bhushan reminisced about the actress's everlasting love affair with Dilip Kumar during a special conversation with IANS.
Given that Madhubala's birthday aligns with Valentine's Day, we inquired with Madhur for her thoughts on her sister's storied romance with Dilip Kumar. She elaborated, "It was an exquisite love, but there was a different fate written for them. Everything unfolds according to God's plan. We wished for their happiness, yet what was destined, occurred."
When questioned if Madhubala ever confided in her about her relationship with Dilip Kumar, Madhur responded, "She might have shared it with others. However, we were unaware. We attended school, while the rest of our siblings did not. During that era, children were generally excluded from such discussions. Whenever adult topics arose, we were asked to step out and play. This was quite ordinary. So, I don’t believe we engaged in any conversations concerning her personal life."
Madhur Bhushan also recounted her experience meeting Dilip Kumar, stating, "Yes, I met him. He would visit us and was always very respectful, referring to me as Zahida Ji."
When probed if Dilip Kumar came to see Madhubala during her final days, Madhur replied, "He visited her at the 'kabristaan' (graveyard), but we were not there as we were still young. Additionally, in our culture, women are not permitted to visit graveyards."
For those unfamiliar, Madhubala was an iconic actress who ruled Hindi cinema in the 1940s and 1950s. Her celebrated romance with Dilip Kumar continues to be one of Bollywood's most legendary and frequently discussed love sagas.
