Los Angeles, April 17 (NationPress) The journey of Hollywood actress Mikey Madison to a Galaxy Far Far Away has come to a halt even before the engines could ignite.
The actress has withdrawn from her first project following her Oscar win for Best Actress. She was offered a role in the new and yet-to-be-titled 'Star Wars' film directed by Shawn Levy, known for his work on 'Deadpool' and 'Wolverine', but discussions have since concluded with the 'Anora' star opting out, as reported by 'Variety'.
In earlier reports, screenwriter Jonathan Tropper has been working on the screenplay for this film, which is set to feature Ryan Gosling.
According to 'Variety', Levy, who will join the exclusive group of directors that have collaborated with both Canadian actors named Ryan, has been in development on this project since late 2022. He is also producing the film alongside Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm.
This movie is described as a standalone installment that will not tie into the Skywalker Saga, which concluded with 2019’s 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'. All additional plot details remain tightly under wraps.
The untitled film is set to follow 'The Mandalorian & Grogu', the only 'Star Wars' film to receive the greenlight after more than five years; that film has recently completed principal photography and is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026. As for Madison, the 26-year-old actress has gained recognition for her performances in the FX series 'Better Things', as well as in 'Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood' and 'Scream 5'. However, Sean Baker’s 'Anora' was a significant turning point in her career, being the first movie for which she did not have to audition.
Madison previously stated, “I was scrolling through my Dropbox the other day and saw hundreds of auditions I’ve done, so many hours of work.”
