Chennai, Jan 20 (NationPress) After revealing the roles of actor Jais Jose as Xavier and Sshivada as Sreelekha in the much-anticipated political action film L2: Empuraan (L2E), Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who takes the lead, announced on Monday that actor Aneesh G Menon portrays the character Sumesh in the movie.

In a post on his social media, Mohanlal shared, “Character No.34. Aneesh G Menon as Sumesh in #L2E #EMPURAAN.” He also included a link to a YouTube video where Sumesh elaborates on his character.

In the video, actor Aneesh expressed, “I played the character Sumesh in the film Lucifer and I’m reprising the role in Empuraan as well. Sumesh is a dedicated party worker of IUF and the loyal aide of Murugan in the film.”

“The audience really appreciated this character in Lucifer, as I learned from the positive feedback I received. Even now, when fans rewatch the movie, they mention it. So, I feel fortunate to portray Sumesh once more and thrilled that Lucifer has a sequel. Being cast by a visionary director like Prithviraj fills me with immense joy,” he added.

Aneesh noted that he utilized the Trivandrum dialect in this film, stating that among all the roles he has played, Sumesh stands out as his favorite due to the growth it provided him.

Directed by actor Prithviraj, the Mohanlal-led L2: Empuraan (L2E) is a collaborative production by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The screenplay is written by Murali Gopy, with a musical score by Deepak Dev. Cinematography is handled by Sujith Vaassudev and editing by Akhilesh Mohan.

It’s worth noting that actor Prithviraj had earlier mentioned that this film would be a commercial entertainer featuring Mohanlal. Murali Gopy indicated that this film represents the second chapter in a trilogy.

The first installment, Lucifer, released in 2019 and marked the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. It became a blockbuster within just eight days, grossing over Rs 200 crore, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever.

Unsurprisingly, expectations for the sequel, set to premiere on March 27 this year, have skyrocketed.
