On his X account, Mohanlal shared, “Character No18 Baiju Santhosh as Murukan in #L2E #EMPURAAN.” He also provided a link to a YouTube video where Baiju Santhosh discussed his role in the movie.
“I believe no one can forget the film Lucifer and its characters, particularly Stephachayan and Murukan. Portraying Murukan was a role I genuinely enjoyed. After a five-year hiatus, we are reuniting in Empuraan. I want to express my gratitude to Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor, Prithiviraj, Murali Gopi, Sujith Vassudev, and associate director Vava. With Empuraan being Malayalam cinema's biggest release, Murukan is also making his comeback, with a touch of ‘decency’,” he remarked.
The film L2: Empuraan (L2E), featuring Mohanlal, is helmed by actor Prithviraj and co-produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The narrative is crafted by Murali Gopy, while the music is composed by Deepak Dev. The cinematography is handled by Sujith Vaassudev, with editing by Akhilesh Mohan.
It is worth noting that Prithviraj had previously mentioned that the film would serve as a commercial entertainer starring Mohanlal. Additionally, Murali Gopy stated that this would be the second part of a planned trilogy.

Consequently, the anticipation for the sequel, which is set to premiere on March 27 this year, has significantly heightened.
