Chennai, Feb 17 (NationPress) The renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal, who stars in the much-anticipated political action film L2: Empuraan (L2E) directed by Prithviraj, officially introduced actress Saniya Iyappan as Jhanvi in the movie.

On his X timeline, Mohanlal shared, “Character No.20 Saniya Iyappan as Jhanvi in #L2E #EMPURAAN.” Along with this announcement, he also posted a link to a YouTube video where Saniya discussed her role in the film.

Saniya expressed, “I am Saniya Iyappan. Jhanvi from Lucifer. I played the daughter of Priyadarshini Ramdas, a character brought to life by Manju Warrier. Now, five years later, with ‘Empuraan’ arriving, I'm reprising my role as Jhanvi once more.”

She mentioned that her character in Empuraan has significantly progressed, stating, “In Lucifer, I portrayed a teenager. Now Jhanvi has matured into a character who approaches life with greater seriousness.”

“After my debut film, my second project was a grand production -- Lucifer. I never anticipated returning for its sequel,” Saniya remarked, noting that despite working with the same cast and crew, her experience on Empuraan felt entirely new and refreshing.

The actress praised her director, Prithviraj, saying, “Collaborating with Prithviraj is always a joy.”

The Mohanlal-led L2: Empuraan (L2E) is helmed by actor Prithviraj and produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The script was written by Murali Gopy, with music composed by Deepak Dev. Cinematography is by Sujith Vaassudev and editing by Akhilesh Mohan.

Initially, Prithviraj had revealed that the film would be a commercial entertainer featuring Mohanlal. Murali Gopy also indicated that this would be the second part of a trilogy.

The first installment, Lucifer, released in 2019 and marked Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial debut, quickly became a blockbuster, earning over Rs 200 crore within just eight days, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film to date.

Unsurprisingly, anticipation for the sequel, set to premiere on March 27 this year, has reached new heights.
