Chennai, Feb 14 (NationPress) Bollywood actress Shubhangi Latkar is making her Malayalam film debut with director Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highly anticipated political action drama L2: Empuraan (L2E). She expressed that portraying Bahija Begum in the film has enabled her to connect with a very genuine and profound aspect of herself.
In a recent announcement, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who stars as the lead in director Prithviraj’s much-anticipated film, introduced Shubhangi Latkar as Bahija Begum. He shared the news on his social media accounts, tweeting, “Character No.25 Shubhangi Latkar as Bahija Begum #L2E #EMPURAAN.” Along with the tweet, he included a link to a YouTube video where Shubhangi discusses her character.
In the video, Shubhangi stated, “I portray Bahija Begum in Empuraan. Her storyline is laden with emotional intensity. Playing her character allowed me to tap into a very raw and honest part of myself.”
She continued, “This film holds special significance for me as I have always admired the southern film industry. This project feels like a dream realized. I have always been drawn to south Indian films for their artistic brilliance. This marks my debut in Malayalam cinema, and I am sincerely thankful to God and the entire team for granting me the opportunity to play Bahija Begum.”
The film L2: Empuraan (L2E), featuring Mohanlal, is directed by actor Prithviraj and produced collaboratively by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The screenplay is written by Murali Gopy, with music composed by Deepak Dev. The cinematography is helmed by Sujith Vaassudev and edited by Akhilesh Mohan.
It is noteworthy that earlier in the film's production, Prithviraj had revealed that the film would be a commercial entertainer featuring Mohanlal. Murali Gopy added that this film is the second part in a trilogy.
