Mumbai, Aug 9 (NationPress) Director Mohit Suri has been experiencing a remarkable journey at the box office with his recent film ‘Saiyaara’. The movie has been performing exceptionally well, having surpassed the INR 500 crore milestone globally, and its soundtrack is making waves.
Known for his musical films, Suri partnered with Yash Raj Films. Did he feel overwhelmed by the expectations to uphold the legacies of both? In a recent conversation with IANS, he reflected on the success of ‘Saiyaara’.
He mentioned that he avoids succumbing to such pressures and keeps his focus clear. A similar situation arose during the production of ‘Aashiqui 2’, where he faced significant pressure to replicate the success of the original and ultimately produced a hit soundtrack.
“I generally prefer not to let this type of pressure affect me. I encountered a similar challenge at the start of my career, trying to meet the expectations of the Vishesh Films musical legacy. When I was working on ‘Aashiqui 2’, I felt the weight of living up to the original ‘Aashiqui’. As a result, many renowned music directors hesitated to join the project,” he explained to IANS.
“Ultimately, it’s essential to concentrate on the present. As the film’s dialogue suggests, ‘I didn’t dwell on the past or worry about the future.’ The priority should be to create music for today. I made that decision and, despite facing challenges, we achieved what we did. I’m grateful to YRF for allowing me the creative freedom to work as I typically do. This is their first experience collaborating with multiple composers and writers, which I believe is the best aspect. My producers recognized my vision and permitted me to proceed. That requires significant thoughtfulness and grace,” he concluded.
