Chennai, April 10 (NationPress) Renowned actress Nandita Das, currently visiting Kaziranga National Park with her son, has shared a thrilling incident where their jeep was pursued by a rhino that seemed intent on charging at them.
In a post on her Instagram account, Nandita Das uploaded images of herself and her son enjoying their time at Kaziranga National Park. She also reflected on the events of that day.
She initiated her post with, "In Kaziranga…waking up to the sound of birds, inhaling fresh air infused with the scent of leaves and flowers, savoring delightful Assamese cuisine. And having each other for company. Pure bliss!!"
She continued, "This morning marked our first safari. We ventured to the Eastern Range, a less frequented area of the forest. It was a gentle beginning filled with birds, trees that resembled installations, drapes, twisting pipes, and so on. This serves as clear evidence that humans have drawn inspiration from nature for many of their innovations.
We encountered numerous deer, wild buffalo, boars, elephants, a large lizard, and in the distance, a few rhinos, the iconic species of this national park.
"Just as our safari was concluding, we spotted a rhino quite close to us. As I reached for my phone to capture a well-deserved photo, it suddenly turned and charged towards us at full speed.
"We had just been informed by our naturalist guide that rhinos can sprint at 60km per hour, have poor eyesight but exceptional hearing and smell, and can be aggressive towards jeeps and people.
"In an instant, we realized the truth of that statement. We both stiffened, and the guide instructed the driver to accelerate as fast as possible. The rhino was in pursuit at full speed. As it got perilously close, the guide made loud noises to 'shoo' it away. The rhino abruptly halted, turned away without a second glance, and disappeared into the bushes.
"Phew!! Our hearts raced several beats. After a moment of silence, we discussed all the thoughts that raced through our minds in those fleeting seconds. What could have transpired? It was terrifying! #kaziranga
