Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 10 (NationPress) Acclaimed filmmaker Prakash Jha, a recipient of the National Award, has shared his insights regarding the prevailing political climate amid ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Eastern Europe.
In an interview with IANS at his office located in Andheri East, Mumbai, he articulated that the current geopolitical landscape is significantly influenced by the leaders elected by the global populace. According to him, these leaders formulate policies that define societal structures.
He expressed, “It’s a compelling time. Voters are opting for leaders who embody a different era, with distinct approaches to politics and statesmanship. Witnessing the world transform in such ways has been fascinating for me, and I strive to comprehend the underlying mechanisms.”
Furthermore, Prakash Jha elaborated on his responsibilities as an artist during these tumultuous times, stating, “My obligation is to capture the unfolding events globally, translate them into narratives, and share them with the audience. That’s the gratifying aspect of my work. While I cannot alter the passage of time, adapting to it is essential. Hence, I experience happiness or sadness solely through compassion or cruelty.”
He added, “Experiencing compassion and witnessing humanity restores one’s faith. Conversely, exposure to destruction and suffering brings about grief. Nonetheless, these experiences are integral to life, and comprehending their causes enables us to communicate them effectively. I strive to remain aligned with society and the times, living with integrity.”
On the professional front, Jha is currently directing the upcoming series ‘Sankalp’, which is being produced by his daughter, Disha Jha, and is set to debut on OTT platforms soon.
