Mumbai, Aug 16 (NationPress) Director Raghav Dhar of the newly launched OTT series ‘Andhera’ has meticulously broken down the intricate technical processes involved in capturing the show's unique visual aesthetics.
In a conversation with IANS during the promotional activities for the series, Raghav elaborated on the challenge of translating the concept of darkness from script to screen.
He noted, “It was quite a daunting task. The entire technical side of things could be discussed in detail on a different platform, but depicting darkness on screen is more complex than it appears. We had to put in a significant amount of effort.”
Raghav added, “We utilized shadows and dynamic lighting. We incorporated textures that are not typically present in OTT shows or Indian films, precisely because we are exploring darkness.”
When questioned about the usage of cool tones like blue, teal, and green, the director clarified that the show features a blend of both cool and warm hues.
“There are warm moments as well. It encapsulates a wide range of emotions. Since it’s a series, we had to execute it rapidly. My Director of Photography, Rohitsan Mohapatra, who is quite talented, did an exceptional job,” he mentioned.
‘Andhera’, set against the backdrop of Mumbai, follows Inspector Kalpana Kadam and a medical student named Jay, who find themselves embroiled in a missing-person investigation that reveals a menacing force lurking beneath the city.
The series is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
