Randhir Kapoor: We take great pride in our Raj Kapoor lineage

Mumbai, Dec 4 (NationPress) On the centenary of the esteemed Raj Kapoor's birth, R.K. Films, in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation and the NFDC-National Film Archive of India, has introduced Raj Kapoor 100, an event dedicated to presenting ten significant films from the cinema legend.
Actor Randhir Kapoor, son of Raj Kapoor, expressed: “We take great pride in our Raj Kapoor lineage. Our generation benefits from the legacy of a cinematic giant whose films resonated with the ethos of their era and gave voice to the ordinary person across generations.”

The festival will spotlight Raj Kapoor’s most acclaimed masterpieces, covering nearly four decades, including Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). The event will take place in 40 cities and 135 cinemas across India from December 13 to December 15 at PVR-Inox and Cinepolis cinemas.
The ticket prices are set at a mere Rs 100 at all participating locations.
Raj Kapoor is celebrated as one of India's most influential filmmakers, leaving a profound impact on international cinema. Endearingly known as “The Greatest Showman,” he was born to the legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor.
His films delved into the sentiments of post-Partition India, the aspirations of the common man, and the divide between rural and urban life. With timeless classics like Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), and Mera Naam Joker (1970), Raj Kapoor’s cinema has become synonymous with emotion, creativity, and humanism.
Raj Kapoor has received distinguished accolades including the Padma Bhushan (1971) and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1988).
