Saba, a talented musician and singer active in the Indian indie music scene, is also known as one half of the famous electronic band Madboy/Mink, which she co-founded with actor and musician Imaad Shah in 2012. While her music primarily leans towards urban styles, she expressed that the music featured in ‘Song of Paradise’ played a significant role in her evolution as an artist.

During a promotional interview with IANS in Mumbai, she stated, “My listening vocabulary is much broader than just the type of music I create. Growing up, my parents introduced me to various genres, including folk, Indian classical, western classical, and of course, rock and roll legends. However, I was particularly moved by the film's music, as I had limited exposure to Kashmiri music beyond the Santoor.”

She added, “This experience was educational for me. I learned a great deal about Kashmiri music, and I was thrilled. I am genuinely grateful to Danish (the director) for bringing me into the world of Raj Begum and her melodious contributions. To me, this music was completely in harmony with my sensibilities. I have a deep appreciation for all forms of music, as it is a universal language that transcends words and still resonates with listeners. I love diverse sounds, and this opportunity allowed me to immerse myself in exceptional music.”

In the film, Saba portrays the character Zeba Akhtar, drawing inspiration from the iconic Kashmiri singer Raj Begum.

‘Songs of Paradise’ is produced by Excel Entertainment, Apple Tree Pictures Production, and Renzu Films Production, and is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
