Mumbai, March 21 (NationPress) Comedian Samay Raina, who found himself at the center of a public indecency issue last month, has decided to further postpone his return to India. Additionally, he has made changes to his India tour schedule.
On Thursday, the comedian utilized the Stories feature on his Instagram to share a message indicating the new timeline for his India tour, assuring ticket holders that their funds would be refunded shortly.
He stated, “Hello everyone, I’m rescheduling my India tour. You will receive your refunds soon, see you shortly.”
This decision follows the uproar caused by the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy that swept the nation last month, coinciding with the social unrest sparked by the release of ‘Chhaava’.
The scandal ignited after comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia regarding parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina's show went viral, triggering significant public backlash.
Video footage reveals that Ranveer, a podcaster, asked, “Would you rather watch your parents having sex or join them once and end it forever?”
In the wake of public outrage, several police complaints were lodged against Allahbadia and others connected to the show in both Mumbai and Guwahati. The cyber cell and Mumbai police are conducting independent investigations related to Allahbadia's statements on Raina's YouTube program ‘India's Got Latent’.
A team from the Assam Police also visited Mumbai last month as part of the investigation and conferred with officials from the Maharashtra cyber cell.
Previously, Ranveer issued a statement expressing his concerns about potential violence, as individuals have infiltrated his mother’s clinic.
He posted on Instagram, stating, “My team and I are cooperating with the police and all relevant authorities. I will adhere to due process and be accessible to all agencies. My comment regarding parents was thoughtless and disrespectful. It is my ethical duty to improve, and I sincerely apologize. I am receiving death threats from individuals who want to harm me and my family. People have entered my mother’s clinic pretending to be patients.”
Despite this, he expressed confidence in India’s judicial system, asserting that he would stand his ground against those issuing threats.
He added, “I’m feeling threatened and am unsure of my next steps. Yet, I am not fleeing. I have complete trust in the police and judiciary of India,” he remarked.
Currently, Samay Raina is outside India and has thus far avoided the legal proceedings.
