Mumbai, Nov 27 (NationPress) Actor Shekhar Suman recently utilized his social media platform to honor the late superstar Dharmendra. In a heartfelt video shared by Shekhar, he reminisces about Dharmendra.
In the footage, the actor expressed, “The primary distinction between cricket and life is that in cricket, one can sometimes remain not out. However, in the game of life, everyone must step out eventually. When someone departs, it brings immense sorrow. This sorrow is valid, as that individual shares a deep connection with you. The grief stems from their departure and the loss itself.”
He continued, “Yet, the reality is that for someone you cherish, you don’t wish to witness them in a condition you never envisioned. I refer to Dharamji. A person with a warm heart like Dharamji, someone full of joy, was truly one of a kind. It is often said that a pure and beautiful heart radiates through one's visage. This was undoubtedly true for Dharamji.”
Reflecting further on the late icon and his remarkable character, Shekhar stated, “He was an extraordinary individual, honest and genuine. What he felt inside was evident outside. His combination of a stunning face and an impressive physique is quite rare—typically, one might possess either a good body or a beautiful face, but both are rarely found together. Dharamji was as exceptional a person as he was an actor. He showered love and received it in abundance. He faced no criticism.”
Shekhar also mentioned, “Regarding his fame, from the 1960s until his last film, Rocky Aur Rani, he was unassailable. No one could rival his stardom. Remarkably, Dharamji had no adversaries. I find it 'strange' because how can someone be so genuinely good? Whoever he encountered, he greeted with warmth and affection. We have admired him for many years. Witnessing him in his final days was unbearable.” Shekhar emphasized the importance of remembering the superstar, stating, “Just like in cricket, when a player concludes a remarkable innings and walks back to the pavilion, the entire audience rises to applaud. Dharamji played an extraordinary innings. We mourn his departure, but for the magnificent life he led, we must all stand and salute him. “Wah, Dharamji, wah. What a game you played.”
He remarked, “None of us desired to see him in a state where he could barely stand, his voice quivering, feeling isolated. Did you wish to witness your Dharamji in that manner? Absolutely not. It is preferable for someone to depart before reaching such a condition. A unique aspect of actors is that while they may leave their physical forms, their contributions and characters live on eternally. We wanted to remember Dharamji as vibrant, youthful, and beautiful as we always perceived him. We didn’t want to see him in that final phase.”
Contemplating the admirable life led by the late superstar, Suman remarked, “He lived a pure, beautiful, and exemplary life. His innings was lengthy and commendable. We should express gratitude for that. If one is to live, it should be akin to his. Thus, Dharamji, we honor you as a paragon. We ought to aspire to emulate you—though no one can ever truly replicate you. Thank you sincerely for your inspiration and motivation. As long as the world persists, your name—Dharmendra—will shine in the sky like the sun and moon.”
Shekhar Suman captioned the video with, “My heartfelt tribute to the man who taught us love and humanity, who showed us how to live life to the fullest, with a heart as pure as 24-carat gold. A magnificent, generous, kind, and compassionate being. An Adonis with an infectious smile that touched billions. A phenomenal and unmatched actor, the biggest star of them all, who will forever reside in our hearts... Dharmendra.”
For those unaware, Dharmendra passed away on November 24, at the age of 89. On November 27, a prayer gathering has been organized by the Deol family in Mumbai.
Professionally, Dharmendra is set to appear posthumously in the film 'Ikkis', directed by acclaimed director Sriram Raghavan. The movie also features Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia.
