Sobhita Dhulipala Adorns Heirloom Jewelry for 'Raata Ceremony' Before Marrying Naga Chaitanya

Mumbai, Dec 1 (NationPress) Actress Sobhita Dhulipala, who is preparing to marry Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya, showcased her mother and grandmother's traditional jewellery during the ‘Raata ceremony’.

The Raata ceremony holds great significance as a pre-wedding ritual in various Telugu customs. It represents a crucial phase before the bride’s official marriage. Throughout this occasion, a bamboo stick is erected along with leaves from mango, jamun, and Jammi trees, which are revered with sacred items such as pancha loha, navaratan (nine gems), and navadhaanya (nine grains).

A sacred potli (bag) is attached to the pole, with prayers directed towards the pancha bhuta (five elements) and the deities from all eight directions. This ritual is believed to purify and bless the bride prior to her transition into married life.

According to a source close to the actress, Sobhita's choice of wearing her mother and grandmother's jewellery made the occasion even more meaningful for her.

Following the Raata ceremony, the Mangalasnaanam ritual is conducted, during which turmeric paste is applied to the bride’s body.

It has been previously disclosed that the wedding will follow a traditional and vintage style, lasting approximately 8 hours for all the rituals.

“The wedding rituals will extend beyond 8 hours, adhering to the Telugu Brahmin traditions that Sobhita and Chaitanya are embracing for their marriage,” shared a source close to Sobhita.

For her special day, the actress has selected a classic Kanjivaram silk saree, elegantly embellished with genuine gold zari.

The couple is set to unite in marriage on December 4 in Hyderabad.
